#5 ON THE AMAZON BESTSELLER LIST
Brian O’Brien, a Miami police sergeant, becomes an inadvertent hero while saving a man and his daughter in a deep Florida canal auto rescue. The man is a politician, Carlos Luis Bentincore, who is favored to become the next president of Colombia, South America. The grateful candidate bonds with his rescuer and young family, but O’Brien’s celebrated moment in the spotlight is short lived. The “accident” was in reality an assassination attempt. Bentincore is the target of a sinister White House scheme to place a puppet government into the Colombian presidency. The feds objective now is to use O’Brien to damage Bentincore’s character and keep him from winning the election. They will stop at nothing; O’Brien is imprisoned on bogus charges, and his relationship to Bentincore draws him into a web of intrigue that involves eco-terrorism, sexual seduction, and the abduction of powerful federal officials. While incarcerated O’Brien realizes he must save himself. He escapes from federal prison armed only with his determination and a plan to expose those framing him. |
REVIEWS OF EXECUTIVE DECEPTION:
Politico
“Imagine a world where a man is imprisoned for saving a life, or a man of the people is brought down for being too good. Imagine an America where justice is merely a strategic move by power-hungry officials. That’s the premise behind this political thriller by author Pat Riley, a former music executive who lives in North Carolina."
"The book’s main character innocently gets involved in a plot to exploit a presidential election in Colombia and has to fight big government powers to restore justice to his name and the election."
Asbury Park Press
"Executive Deception focuses on a Miami Police Sergeant, Brian O'Brien, who finds himself an unexpected hero after saving the lives of a father and daughter who plunged into a canal after a car accident. He brings the little girl back to life in front of the TV cameras and becomes everyone's hero. O'Brien learns the crash he responded to was no accident. Rather, the little girl's father is a South American politician running for the presidency of Colombia and favored to win. The crash was an assassination attempt plotted by The White House, which would prefer to bring a puppet government into power."
Scene Magazine
"Executive Deception, a fast paced and gritty thriller proves to be an entertaining read that hints at a promising future for Riley."
Australian Sun Coast
"This is complete escapism that is well worth reading. Sit back and enjoy this well written, page-turning, chilling, but eventually extremely funny thriller."
The Joplin Independent
"Seedy side of government revealed. The description of O'Brien's environment in a series of federal prisons should be enough to deter anyone from crime and is especially heinous for someone like the cop who is innocent. Fortunately, he has a bunch of devoted well-connected friends, a good attorney and colorful characters, including a prosecutor pal who doesn't mind prostituting herself one way or another in one very salacious scene for the pursuit of good over evil."
AMAZON:
"Pat Riley's Executive Deception is a lot of fun. It's been on the Kindle bestseller list almost since it's release and deservedly so."
"Executive Deception grabs you right from the start. Lots of action and fast-paced plot. Memorable main character! Fun read."
"This epic struggle between Brian O'Brien and Alfred Hitchcock pulls you in and won't let you go until the final page of this incredible page-turner. Can't wait to dive into Riley's next work!"
"The best suspense thriller in a long time."
"This novel is humorous and fast-paced. The author seemed to know the subject well; I wonder if he might be ex-law enforcement. Buy it, drive to the beach, sit under an umbrella with Executive Deception in one hand and a Corona in the other."
